Nick Sagnibene of 716 Fly Fishing

Founder / Guide

A Buffalo New York Native, Nick grew up around the water from day one. Fishing the opening day trout season with his father and friends was a tradition that still stands today. What was putting a worm on a hook, has now turned into tying flies to fool weary trout and other species. Nick has been guiding the “716” for years and takes passion in the diversity of the fishery. As a year round fly fishing guide, he provides you with expertise of all species to target 12 months a year. Whether guiding the Lake Erie and Ontario steelhead runs throughout the winter, musky fishing the lakes and rivers of the Southern Tier, or drift boat trips for the great trout fishing and hatches of the Allegheny mountains, Nick has spent thousands of hours on the waters fine tuning the fisheries to make your trip successful and enjoyable.

Nick has traveled to destinations like Patagonia, Florida, Mexico, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho to continue the passion and learn. Rivers like the fabled West Branch of the Delaware a few hours away, have allowed him to grow his knowledge and techniques on some of the pickiest trout in the country. An avid musky fisherman, Nick provides a niche for the area as a musky guide, allowing anglers who would like to try to catch “a fish of 10,000“ casts a chance to do so.

Nick started his professional guiding career in the small ski town of Ellicottville, 45 minutes south of Buffalo in the Southern Tier. Realizing how under developed the area was for fishing, awareness of the area grew each day working at Adventure Bound on the fly and talking to people who passed through. Spending 200+ days on the water a year, it didn’t take long for Nick to get the creeks, streams, rivers and lakes figured out. Based out of 16 Washington street in Ellicottville, the home of Ellicottville Coffee Company and Adventure bound on the fly, allows the client to come enjoy a “shop” with many different touches. Fly fishing, Peruvian coffee, the top in outdoor goods and apparel, 12 Gates Brewing, and recently Loud Performance bike & board shop make coming into the store and booking a trip easier than ever.
